THE BEST LINKEDIN ARTICLE HEADER IMAGE SIZE IN 2019

Find below the best LinkedIn article header image size in 2019. Written by MAU. Senior Digital Marketing Specialist at eDigital.

THE BEST LINKEDIN ARTICLE HEADER IMAGE SIZE IN 2019

Best header image size to upload for a LinkedIn article is 600 x 322 pixels or 2x that size ( 1200 x 644 pixels). However, for best image viewing experience, across multiple devices (desktop, smart phones, tablets) you should allow a 20 pixels surrounded area (all sides) with no important text or visuals. This means make sure you the key visuals and texts are within the center 580 x 302 pixels. That’s because LinkedIn can automatically crop out up to 20 pixels on all sides, depending on device the image renders on.

BEST LINKEDIN ARTICLE HEADER IMAGE SIZE 2017 IS 600 x 322 PIXELS

Tip: Allow for a 20 pixel border around the image to ensure any visual content is actually displayed and not deleted by the automated cropping. This means the image should be 600 x 322 pixels but all the important visuals and overlay text should be within the centre 580 x 302 pixels of your image.

Below are some screenshots on how the image actually look when shared as a post/update and viewed on different devices. I added some text – on purpose – at each border within the image (far left – far right – above – below) to see how the image gets automatically cropped by Linkedin.

THE RESULTS

VIEWED FROM DESKTOP VIA SHARED POST/UPDATE

Below is the view of this actual article being shared as a post/update and viewed via desktop. You can see the vertical area where it has the little text overlay that reads “— 600 pixels —” above and below the image gets a bit cropped.

VIEWED FROM LINKEDIN APP INSTALLED ON IPHONE 5 VIA SHARED POST/UPDATE

Below is the view of this actual article being shared as a post/update and viewed via LinkedIn app on an Iphone 5. You can see again that the vertical area, where the little text overlay that reads “— 600 pixels —” above and below the image gets again a bit cropped; this time a bit more that viewing the post/update from desktop.

  • Visit my “Best LinkedIn post image size” article if you are looking for the best image size dimension for direct Linkedin Posts (updates), as this article only covers best header image dimensions for LinkedIn Articles.

Remember! LinkedIn article images will automatically chopped when view it in your profile or when it is shared in other people’s profile. Also the header image will appear different on your iPhone as opposed to your desktop. The image gets displayed at different aspect ratio than the one created. The aspect ratio for desktop posting is 2.0 but the actual displayed ratio is 1.86.

You might think “ohh ok, it is only cropping a bit of the vertical side, what about trying something like 1200 x 640 instead of 1200 x 644? reducing 4 pixels, and see if it fits perfectly?

WHAT ABOUT THE POPULAR 1200 X 640 SIZE?

It gets cropped far more than in our suggested 600 x 322 pixel image.
