We wanted visitors to be fully active contributors to the installation. Ultimately, the public totally recreated the installation, the reading of the notes – written by the public – and the conversation around the memories become protagonists of the whole exhibition. The physical installation took a secondary role and we were extremely happy with that” Mauricio Mar

This highly successful exhibition got people together around the main art installation table to comment about the different smells and scents found in each bottle. People were also invited to write down what memory, recollection or reminiscence that scent brought to mind.

Some printed words were exhibited (hanging from the ceiling) as a way of guiding or aiding the visitor to recount a lost memory, a memory probably locked in the unconscious.

The installation achieved a multi-level experience as people were engaged in so many ways including smelling, writing, commenting and meeting new people who were also enjoying the installation. The physical installation was just seeds and visitors watered it and enjoyed the fruits of it.
